Friday 19th

Not much to say about today really, except that I'm getting very confused about which day it is! Since Tuesday, I've had to check every day because I forget from one day to the next. I'm blaming it entirely on being out of a routine and not at all to do with old age (I hope)!

We'd heard on the news that it was highly likely we would have thunderstorms this afternoon, so pool time definitely had to be in the morning. The clouds were building thick and fast above us and we thought we could hear rumblings of thunder in the distance.

Watching the cloud build up.

Harrison thought that his 'boys' ought to be out enjoying the sun too!

Not long after we came in for lunch, Bernard mentioned that he thought it had started spitting with rain. He opened the patio door and we saw that it was doing a bit more than a spit!

He and I have turned into lightning junkies (much to Harrison's dislike) so we had to put the laptop on to see where the strikes were happening:

Despite the storm overhead we were in need of food and had to take a trip to Walmart. There was no telling how long the storm would last so Harrison prepared for all weathers:

I think he felt safer wearing his raincoat (almost like an invisibility cloak!) as he insisted on putting it on before setting foot outside, even though the rain had temporarily stopped!  It's amazing how fast he can walk when there's a rumble overhead 😉

Bernard's neck hasn't benefited from the warmth as much as it did last year and is still quite stiff. Pushing Harrison or a trolley around a huge supermarket doesn't help either so we got Harrison to transport himself:

At first he was a bit nervous at manoeuvring this thing but soon became quite confident and was able to squeeze through quite small spaces, without knocking into anything or anyone. I was very impressed! He obviously doesn't get that talent from me, although many hours on his PS3 playing driving games probably helped a lot! Driving this buggy helped Harrison to forget about the weather outside for a while.  He cheered up even more when he spotted a Chelsea jacket hanging up.  For those of you who don't know, Harrison supports Chelsea football team (purely because they are in the same borough as the Royal Brompton hospital) and Bernard supports Arsenal.  Harrison finds it very amusing to annoy Bernard in any way he can about this, so just had to buy the jacket!  Bernard suggested that a t-shirt that he could wear under a plain hoodie might be more subtle which made Harrison more determined to have the jacket.

We went into Walmart in daylight (it was about 5pm) but when we came out two hours later (it's a big shop 😉) it was pitch black even though there was still over an hour to go until sunset.  The storm hadn't gone anywhere and Harrison was extremely uneasy about it. Bernard and I on the other hand, were in awe of the amazing light shows that we were getting.
